Anyone got any suggestions? I work in daycare and we do a lot of drawings, colouring in and chalk pictures but I need some new inspiration. Also I need ideas for activities.

Answer by Chris
How about finger painting? 1 year old like to stick things in their mouths so you will want to make sure you use non-toxic paint… better yet, you could use jello as the “paint.”

My babysitter made a really cute “Bouquet” using the child’s hand prints. It’s not something the babe could do, but it meant a lot to me. She cut the hand print out of construction paper and taped it onto a green chenille stick.

You could have the little ones paint banners. Use newspaper end rolls, paint the child’s feet, and have them walk the paper.

Good luck!

Answer by Ashley
Color rocks with paint
Scavenger hunts (in a small area and hide fun things)
Face painting

I am making a Toy Chest for my granddaughter and have routered a heart shape on the front, this is only 1/4 inch deep and I was going to paint it red. I decided to try and infill it so that it looks solid. My question is : does anybody know a liquid i can pour in and it sets hard overnight say, I have tried mixing red paint with fller but it wont go hard. I would be grateful if anyone knows of a product that appears glossy once it has set, if I cant dye it red then I will paint it after. Any solutions are very welcome.
I mean to fill using a solution that goes hard and looks like a finished product. I mixed red paint with filler and it looked good but refused to harden. Im sure there is a product out there that maybe u have to mix with a hardener and finishes like a glossy plastic.

Answer by Ozzie O
PVA glue

Answer by derfini
What about the sort of product we use when filling in cracks in walls before decorating – Polyfilla or whatever you have locally.

Answer by Punk_princess17
This might be a little of not what you are looking for but I thought I would put the idea out there and you could give it a try: there are kits that you can buy at most craft stores and sometimes walmart. It is like a that you use like a cement type mixture and you have your kids put their hands/feet in and after like a night it dries so you can save it and decorate it.give it a try and the kits are not that expensive. Hope this helps!

If all else fails go to a hardware store or a craft store and ask them if they know of anything and I am sure they can help you out considering its basically what they do/know. Good Luck.

In London, there are many such colleges , including famous ones like Chelsea , Camberwell , St Martins , Hornsey , Central etc
But many provincial cities and towns have colleges of an excellent standard , including Liverpool , Manchester, Newcastle , Bristol
A big advantage of these is a more affordable cost of living

Answer by Nicci
Hi
If you try googling arts and crafts from kenya there are a number of websites which show pictures and have some information.
Depends on the age of the children you’re working with but you could have a go at making beaded jewelry like the masai warriors.
Or making shields like the masai and painting them.
Or even have a go at basket making out of various natural materials.
Hope this helps!

For school we have to make a sea monster like the ones the europeans and aztecs believed in

what supplies will i need apart from -

newspaper and glue ( paper mache )
pipe cleaners
googly eyes
paint
??

how should i make it ?

Answer by thejanith
My favorite sea monster figure that I have ever seen comes in pieces. The neck and head are one piece. The tail is another piece. In between, there are two or three humps. When you put these all down on a blue piece of paper, it looks like the sea monster is swimming along. You only see the parts that would stick up out of the water; the rest is under the water’s surface and you can’t see it. It’s really cute.

To make a base for a sea monster head and tail, use aluminum foil. Buy a cheap roll or two at the dollar store, as it may take a lot. Cover it with papier mache. Let it dry and paint it.
