im doing relay aswell as some other running evetns for my school in england (im year 9) and i was wondering if there were some good running techniques to run faster or some exercies to do + are there any specific running shoes i should get or are the k-swiss ones : http://www.dv8fashion.com/default.aspx?scid=a2GSpnDbruIad1913d&pid=QYuapPEMAzYad1913d

are those ones ok? if not are there cheap specific ones in jjb but im more keen on running technique advice

THANKS

Answer by KChang
www.runnersworld.com

Answer by Alli
well i used to run in relays ….

first of all make sure you warm up really well. get your muscles warmed up but dont tire yourself out. be sure to do both arm stretches and leg stretches.

when running:
get the fastest two of the four people to run first and last.

when recieving the baton:
start running and pass right to left or left to right, NEVER right to right or left to left. practise passing the baton, as it is the most important. you will also need to come up beside/diagonal each other, and no behind. before the race, make sure everyone on your team knows what to do and that there are no doubts. each missunderstanding or mess up costs you valuable seconds. hold on tight to the baton AND REMEMBER: communication is really important. when you recieve the baton say “got it” or something like that.

when passing the baton:
DONT slow down! and when recieving try and make sure you are running fast so that you dont waste time trying to get to your maximum speed.

everyone on the team must work together and practise together.

Tips for running:
use your arms
stretch out your legs
dont ‘sit’ on the ground. feel as if you are flying across it.
think about where you are running to and focus on getting there.
breath in a rhythm that complements your running strides.
*if you have a lot of time in advance to practise, train your hamstrings to snap your legs in quickly. this will help you run faster.

as for the shoes, it doesnt really matter. wear good running shoes with arch support that you feel comfortable in. dont run in skater shoes or high tops (but thats common sense). before you race, be sure to break in your shoes. tie them tight.

thats pretty much all. good luck! remember, its not the shoes that will help you win the race….its you, your team and how much dedication you put in.

i just looked at the shoes. … they arent good running shoes at all. they have flat bottoms and are loose fitted. try something like nike … a propper running shoe!

GOOD LUCK!

heres a website that will give you additional tips:
http://trackandfield.lifetips.com/cat/62127/relay-race-tips/

Answer by Josh
NO NO NO NO!

Do not run in K Swiss!

Id say buy some cheap spikes, you can pick some up for about £20. My friend runs in some spikes he got for £17.50 and he runs 4.04 for 1500m =]

Answer by maureen C
i work in a primary school and 1 of my jobs is making sure our pupils are as prepared as possible for high school. I would say that if you get a school you’re not keen on to get your parents to ask primary school to arrange a special visit for you . If your school can’t help try contacting secondary school direct. The more you know about future school the less you will have to worry about. Good luck

Answer by zone82
i don’t really understand your question but when u get to high school u might feel a lot pressure but just be focused on your studies make good friends and work hard and everything will be okay.

Answer by barneysmommy
My son just started high school, he was really nervous about it.

I told him to tell the first person he sat to in class that he was nervous and he would find they were nervous too.

I was right – he is almost at the end of his first half term and he has loved it.

Good luck

I know drink a lot of waterr,
i can’t do too much excersize atm coz i have post viral fatigue.
so any other ways would be really appreciated
I don’t need to lose loads of weight
just like 20 pounds ?
 xxx

I weigh 120 pounds, 5;4 & I’m 14.

Answer by sarell
A safe diet that i eat is to eat every four hours so that my body doesn’t stave itself and it knows that I am going to be regular with the food because if it thinks it won’t get any food then it will store up the food it gets and make me even more fatter even though I don’t eat much.

So eat every four hours have anything even if it is a stick of celery just pop it in but in your case you have to eat more a healthy calorie count is 2000 a day unless you exercises then it will be 2500 a day so that your body doesn’t eat it self. and your body will behavior correctly and doesn’t think that it is on a famine. If it thinks this then it will store store and store. Hence big belly. Eat Carbs during the day and eat slow releasing ones like, potato’s, whole wheat, oats, rice, bread. One large potato is a portion and a half. So watch your portion sizes because you will need to eat more to make up the difference and eat often every four hours. Good luck it works for me.

Answer by Zackary
I had too many pounds in all the wrong zones until I used acai berry, I understand they say that pills won’t work, nevertheless they sure worked for me, and they’ve been featured on the Rachael Ray Show too. There is a free trial on currently at http://mefople.zimcraft.com , give it a try, why not?

about fashion, make up, how i should act, anything at all etc THANKS:)

Answer by rogue
wear what you’d normally wear, act like you always act and dont pretend to be something/someone youre not.

that way people get to know the real you strait away and not the fake you, a lot of pressure would build up because youre not being yourself.

hope ive helped XD

Answer by J
Make friends with everyone you can, don’t ignore someone who you’ve been warned against or anything, then you’ll be able to get to know everyone well before settling down into a group of friends, as opposed to latching onto one group straight away, then finding out you hate them later on.

Don’t flirt with any boys! Girls in school can be very territorial over someone they fancy. Try and act as confident as you can, even if you don’t feel it, and they’ll believe that you are. Ask loads of questions to get the conversation going and try to be chatty and funny.

With fashion or make-up, if you have one style (if you’re a goth or something) then you shouldn’t be afraid of expressing yourself – though not enough to get you in trouble with the teachers. Then like-minded people will be able to spot you.

Answer by Lol
One word.. working out, go to a club run around ur block everyday, thats the only way to tone ur body .. good luck

Answer by Adele Spinks
Hi, Toning up should be fun and not a chore, my daughter Ice skates and I enjoy the Gym, I have a Wii fit and I can fit this around my daily life. If you have a friend to exercise with this will always make things fun and a little competition and support always works to keep you on track.

I had to move to the same school as my sis because it’s easier for my parents, and the school seems nice. I’m scared that it will be bitchy because everyone says only girls schools are bitchier and this is an only girls school. Plus it’s a private school and I got in on scholarship so I’m scared the girls will be snobbish. Apart from that the school looks good. I’m not that shy of a person but it’s always hard making a new start could you give me some tips?

I’m going to be a junior, eep!
Ok,so I know there probably wont be a huge difference, but I had a hard time in school last semester and I want things to go smoothly this year, especially since I’m taking more advanced courses, more than I ever have, and because I know junior year is really important for college.

AP English Language
AP U.S. History
AP Psychology
Pre-Calculus
Academy of Creative Technologies (ACT)
Physical Education (P.E.)

Any advice is appreciated

Answer by Kookie
Your schedule sounds alot like mine… I feel your pain
My philosophy on junior year is take hard classes, but only as much as you can handle. Its better to get decent grades in 2 AP classes than get completely destroyed in 4… knowing your limit is key. Maybe pick one of your AP classes to drop down to honors or regular, depending on what you like (maybe if you dont really enjoy english, or if science is your weakest subject.) take the AP class that you’re genuinely interested in. Talk to the seniors. If the majority of the students who took AP history said that it was a breeze and totally worth it, go for it. If they say that the AP psych teacher is a total bitch who is biased and wont settle for anything sub- perfect, maybe its time to reconsider.

Answer by Linda Guo
I would definitely suggest you get some review books for your AP courses. When I was in junior year with 3 AP courses, it seemed pretty easy the first semester, but when the actual exams come, I was really stressing out and worrying that I didn’t cover everything. So try to get some kind of review books early on, and you can make connections to what your teacher is doing and what things are most likely on the test. It’ll also be easier if you study those review books earlier, so then when class time comes, you’ll know what’s going on. You should start looking over it during the summer, so you’ll be ahead of the class

Answer by Jojo0112
1. Always be prepared.
2. Think before you speak, you might think you know the answer, but double check.
3. Know your limits. If something is too hard or is confusing, ask for help
4. Only surround yourself with people who make you feel good
5. Keep your friends close and your fr-enemies far
6. If you have a lot of trouble in a subject, get a tutor
7. Write down every teacher’s name in your notebook for that class so you don’t forget
8. Put your homework back in your backpack as soon as your done
9. Don’t take a class because your friends are.
10. Eat at lunch, don’t just talk
11. Be yourself!
12. In a sea of people, no one notices one mistake
13. If your teacher gives out a wrong answer, raise your hand to correct her
14. DON’T correct teacher’s grammar
15. If your best (and only) friend moves, MAKE MORE!
16. Don’t just do your homework and be done, check over it
17. Do your best. Your best is all anyone can ask you to do
18. To lie you need a good memory, to tell the truth you don’t.
19. Always keep an extra shirt in your locker for if you spill something.
20. Fashion fads are highly overrated, they end as soon as they start

21. Due dates are closer then they appear
22. Don’t make excuses over everything, own up to your mistakes
23. Be sure your caught up in middle school homework and classwork. If you get behind it’s hard to make up
24. Read assignments and directions carefully
25. Have your own style and stick with it
26. Have a special binder for homework assignments so you don’t lose them
27. You don’t need a guy/girl to be cool or happy
28. If you like a guy/girl be yourself, if he doesn’t like you, his loss
29. Be involved, dress the part for special days
30. Get a lift to school on rainy days or else you’ll spend homeroom in wet jeans
31. Never end a friendship over rumors
32. Join tons of club so you can meet friends with the same interests as you.
33. Be friends with people who don’t get in trouble
34. It’s okay to make new friends; but don’t forget your old ones
35. Never try to be popular, just do things you like
36. Be friends with people you care about most.
37. Always hang out with people who make you laugh
38. If you REALLY want to keep something secret, keep it to yourself. Even a bff can let it slip sometimes
39. Never let your enemies see you cry, that only lets them win
40. When the popular people talk, others listen

41. Always understand when a friend makes a mistake
42. Live life to the greatest
43. Talk to your guidance counselor if something is wrong
44. The place you sit in lunch on the first day is where you’ll be sitting for the rest of the year
45. Do things you enjoy
46. Act fine, even if your not, around teachers.
47. Don’t sit next to a cute guy/girl in class, it’ll distract you
48. Get exercise and be healthy

I am in year 9 in high school and want to fit in with the others a bit more so….

What kind of makeup should i wear…. i have blonde hair and blue eyes so what would look good and up to date… also what makeup can i wear that is noticeable but not too noticeable???

What else can I do to fit in?

Thanks xx

Answer by ~RissaMac~
First: Be yourself
Second: go with dark or neutral make up
Third: Cute clothes that fit u!

Answer by AshliGivens
All the make up tips you need would be from http://www.youtube.com/user/GregoryGORGEOUS
TRUST ME!!!

Answer by Bri
It depends on whether or not your school allows makeup.

I suggest maybe a bronze, or pale pink eyeshadow which will make your eyes look brighter,
then mascara to frame your eyes.
Or try some brown eyeliner, that really makes blue eyes pop
Lip balm and lip gloss, just to add some extra colour. Try some blusher if you feel a bit pale or some highlighter to get rid of dark circles.
And cover up/ concealer for any spots that may appear.

As for fitting in, just try to be as friendly as possible, and also be yourself.

hope this helps

i am making a club and i need tips on how to host parties and events, any one wanna help?

Answer by exc
there’s a good way on the internet to create a group so that you can notify every one of an upcoming event or party, whoever is leader of the club should create the group and each member will need an account and to join the group, then you can assign officers, which is basically people who can also organise stuff, then you can add events to say what it is and where it is being hosted. most people use the program for the in-game chat system but it can be used for your kind of thing too. if you want to do it like this, the program is called steam.
