This Question From Photography | 4 Answers
I’ve got a great camera, wonderful fabric for backdrops but need idea for hanging backdrops on. Someone suggested a shower rod. But haven’t a place to put it. Any other ideas or tips on starting would be great and well welcomed.

How about a good old fashioned projector screen. If your space is limited, it can be easily folded and stored. Attach your various backgrounds to the top of the screen with self stick velcro strips.
I am doing the same thing with starting photography out of my home. I am building a frame for my backdrops out of pvc plumbing supplies. Its an idea that may work!!!
Use the tracks used in hospitals for the privacy curtains.
It’s a chrome track that is screwed to the ceiling. The background fabrics hang from what is basically curtain hooks. This gives you the option to hang several backdrops, and just slide new ones into and out of place. If you have big groups, you can get really wide this way. Angling the ends a little will let you ‘wrap’ the group, so that your edges don’t show with large family groups.
Paint the wall behind your ‘stage’ a flat black matte, if you can. Even a concrete wall painted black will just disappear in the photographs. You may find yourself shooting with no backdrop, just lighting the subject, and the background simply vanishes. If you can’t paint the wall, add a black background fabric to your collection.
If you have the resources, hang a double-row of the tracks (connecting the ends like a skinny train track loop). You can then use some sheer and shimmery fabrics. Put a dark blue solid in back, hang a shimmery fabric in front, and instant glamour. (Fabulous for Prom, Wedding, Dance photos)
Make an A frame out of PVC pipes. It would be durable, and easy to make. Then you can hang all you fabrics from it.
